Embattled Roodepoort school gets off to a good start

Peace and sanity prevailed in Davidsonville, as Roodepoort Primary School finally reopened.

Classes have now resumed at the Roodepoort Primary School. This follows Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi's temporary closure of the school last month, after violence broke out amid allegations of corruption and racism.

EWN reporter Thando Kubheka spoke to 702's Stephen Grootes about the first day of Roodepoort Primary’s reopening.

Kubheka said the school got off to a good start, without incidents. Some parents accompanied their children into school until the bell rang and the children went into their classes.

She said there was visible police presence outside the school to ensure the safety of the children.

Kubheba added that a meeting at a local community hall was held yesterday to ensure everything is ready for today. Today, an additional meeting was held to to address parents who are still not happy with how things have turned out.
