Shocking road fatalities stats revealed

Transport Minister Dipuo Peters spoke to Xolani Gwala about the latest road fatalities statistics.

The minister revealed that 80 percent of road fatalities were attributed to adults and male drivers aged between 19 and 34.

Speed and drinking and driving are the main factors that contribute to most road fatalities around the country.

Peters said most accidents occur on weekends between 10pm and 5am.

She said the transport ministry also took a decision to implement 24 hour law enforcement on the roads next year.
