Fake Kulula account offers free flights to followers on Instagram

Every so often we will see unbelievable promotions being offered via social media, such as free phones, free cameras, and free flights.

The latest scam case revolves around low-cost airline kulula.com, where an Instagram account was created - offering free flights on the continent to the first 25 000 followers.

The management team were quick to inform the public that this was not a legitimate creation and that it was a hoax account. Understandably, many people were left feeling disappointed by being duped.

According to advertising expert Jonathan Cherry, cases such as these are more than just a practical joke.

He says the fake accounts are created for commercial gain. Scammers garner a huge online following and can later sell the account to someone looking for instant followers - and simply change the name of the profile.
