DA lays fraud and corruption charges against Jordaan, Oliphant
The DA has laid criminal charges against Nelson Mandela Bay mayor Danny Jordaan and former Safa president Molefi Oliphant over claims the two officials solicited bribes to secure the 2010 Soccer World Cup.
702's Xolani Gwala spoke to the DA’s Shadow Minister of Sports and Recreation, Solly Malatsi, who believes the fraud and corruption charges will prompt a criminal investigation into allegations that a $10 million bribe was paid to CONCACAF in return for votes to host the showpiece.
Malatsi claims Jordaan and Oliphant implicated themselves in the scandal after two letters surfaced in which the payment was discussed.
American and Swiss authorities have each launched independent investigations into Fifa. Several arrests have already been made.
