No many people could have imagined Gwede Mantashe as Rugby commentator.
In the aftermath of the Springbok's historic loss to Japan at the Rugby World Cup in London on Saturday, there have been several comments about transformation and the age of the team.
Stephen Grootes speaks to ANC SG, Gwede Mantashe on why younger Rugby players must be given a chance to play at the World Cup.
Mantashe said that "pensioners do not belong on the field" and that younger players should be added to the line up, for a better chance to win at the Rugby World Cup.
The real issue is the composition of the overall team. If you take a player who didn’t play who didn’t play in super rugby and send them to captain the world cup, you are sending a message that you don’t want to win.— Gwede Mantashe, ANC Secretary General
