Thuli Madonsela not letting news of Motsoeneng's reappointment slide

Public Protector Thuli Madonsela says her office is aware of allegations of a letter that insinuates that the board of the SABC could reappoint Hlaudi Motsoeneng as the COO even after the Supreme court ruled against it.

Mandonsela says she wrote to the Minister this morning, asking her to confirm if she has received a letter requesting the reappointment of Motsoeneng.

I then said if she received the letter she should reject it because it would be irrational, unreasonable, unlawful and generally against the principle of corporate governance... and I also asked the Minister to assess the ability of this board to discharge its responsibilities...

Madonsela says she also reminded the Minister that the office of the Public Protector is conducting an investigation into various allegations of corruption, abuse of power and maladministration by Motsoeneng.

He is alleged to have been involved in the dismissal of people who have stood in his way as well as paying money to certain individuals including the last CEO.

I am still waiting for the SABC board to respond to those allegations. It was also alleged that the board allows Motsoeneng to do whatever he wants to do and in return the board gets to have as many meetings as it wants and get paid for sittings...
