The University of Cape Town (UCT) has acknowledged that financial constraints should not be a barrier to receiving an education.
The university has guaranteed that everyone who applies for both admission and financial aid, and gets an academic offer, will be assisted financially.
UCT vice-chancellor Dr Max Price said the institution wanted to remind the public that poorer students should not have to suffer because of their family income.
We've been putting out two messages ahead of application closing dates. The first is to apply, and the second is to tell us if they need the financial support. This is important to boost transformation and extend access to people from disadvantaged schools and backgrounds.— Dr Max Price, UCT vice chancellor
