TECHNOBYTE for 2 October 2015

I am so excited about this new initiative that has the potential to change lives, tap into talent and address the huge skills shortage in the IT sector. WeThinkCode is a new kind of tech incubator dedicated to eliminate the IT skills gap. Their mission is to source and train Africa's future coding talent. Because they believe all brilliant minds should have the opportunity to access their incubator, students pay no tuition. They partner with companies, foundations and individuals to sponsor students and access world-class programmers. I spoke to Arlene Mulder one of the co-founders about WeThinkCode.

Apple's new iOS 9 operating system has an awesome feature called Wi-Fi Assist. You'll love it -- unless it hogs up your data plan. Wi-Fi Assist is a new tool that lets your iPhone use 4G cellular data to help boost a weak Wi-Fi signal. You can also toggle off Wi-Fi Assist by navigating to Settings > Cellular > Wi-Fi Assist. But you'll be missing out on an extremely useful feature that will only rack up your data if you're not paying close enough attention.

One of my favourite apps around is Zomato. Whenever I am looking for inspiration to try a new restaurant I always check out Zomato. You can search for restaurants by cuisine, area and rating. Their moto is “our mission is to ensure nobody has a bad meal”.
