Wandile Bozwana murder case: No leads yet in police investigation

Colleagues of the late Wandile Bozwana said they didn't want to speculate on why someone would want to kill him.

Bozwana was gunned down during an apparent hit in Pretoria on Friday and died after sustaining at least eight gunshot wounds.

Prominent case to be moved up the ladder

According to EWN reporter, Barry Bateman, 12 bullet casings were collected from the scene of the crime.

Given the high profile nature of the murder, Bateman says the case will likely be transferred to the provincial detective's office.

'No one is above the law'

Themba Gwabeni, Bozwana’s business associate and friend, said this may have been the second of attempt on his life.

According to Gwabeni, Bozwana was very vocal in his line of work and rightfully critical of the North West government.

Listen to the full conversation from The John Robbie Show:

When asked whether he has suspicions surrounding the controversial businessman's death, Gwabeni said:

It is best to let this case rest with the state. It is their responsibility to unravel this matter. We want them to do a thorough investigation and leave no stone unturned. We will not exclude some of our public servants - nobody is above the constitution.

Police are searching for at least three men who followed Bozwana from Sandton and fired bullets at his car on Friday, while he was sitting in the passenger seat at a traffic light at the Garsfontein Road exit off the N1 highway.

His colleague was also wounded and remains in a stable condition in hospital.

Bozwana has courted controversy over the last decade for being caught up in numerous scandals, most of which involve claims of tender rigging and corruption.
