RethinkAfrica raises awareness on national minimum wage in SA

RethinkAfrica started a national minimum wage campaign which informs communities about income inequality in order to raise awareness on national minimum wage.

According to RethinkAfrica Chairperson Ayabonga Cawe, a national minimum wage alone will not make a difference in poverty and inequality in the country.

He says a national minimum wage needs to be accompanied by social protection measures such as a living wage to have the desired impact.

In our engagements with communities across the country we began to see the extents of some of the cruel legacies of apartheid in this country and the inabilities of the poor to meet the monthly needs on the income that they earn
