Role of traditional leadership in SA under scrutiny

The conviction and sentencing of King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo for crimes relating to how he treated some of his subjects has raised questions about the relevance of traditional leadership in a democratic South Africa.

Meanwhile, The Traditional and Khoisan Leadership Bill is expected to be passed after the ANC has established a united position on the role of traditional leaders at the national general council (NGC) meeting this weekend.
