Facebook are running a pilot test of Reactions — a more expressive Like button. If you hold the like icon down you will be offered other choice that include Like, Love, Haha, Yay, Wow, Sad and Angry. According to Facebook they say “it’s not a “dislike” button, though we hope it addresses the spirit of this request more broadly. We studied which comments and reactions are most commonly and universally expressed across Facebook, then worked to design an experience around them that was elegant and fun”. If you are an aspiring meteorologist and have Simon Geer traits then you need to check out the Netatmo Weather Station. The aluminium cylinder device has smart sensors built in that measure measuring temperature, humidity, air pressure, CO2 levels and noise levels. It then takes the data and shares on your app via Wi-Fi. It’s not cheap though so unless you are a serious weather enthusiast or a green geek this might not be for you.

A supercomputer at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Mass. can decipher when your days are numbered. Patients are hooked up to the machine which processes all their available data, such as doctors visits, lab results, medications and vital signs, then comes up with a rapid diagnostic assessment. With an expanding database of patient data, the supercomputer applies machine learning by comparing current scenarios with previous results from over 250,000 individuals in the last 30 years. The program can determine the likelihood of present and future medical problems such as heart attacks, infections, cancers and, even death. “We can predict with almost a 96 percent confidence that a patient will have this probability of dying, so if the computer says you are going to die, you probably will die within the next 30 days,” says Beth Israel Project Lead Dr. Steve Horng talking on Fox.
