At least nine UCT students arrested amid #FeesMustFall protests

At least nine students at the University of Cape Town have been apprehended by police amid ongoing protests over tuition fees.

It is alleged that the students were burning tyres at several entrances on the university campus.

This, despite a high court interdict banning students from protesting and disrupting activities at the university.

Meanwhile, students at the University of Stellebosch still occupy the Admin B building, dubbed "Winnie Mandela House".

Nicola, a student at Stellenbosch University described what has been happening on the campus in the past day.

Listen to the full conversation (with Koketso Sachane standing in) on CapeTalk's Breakfast with Kieno Kammies:

Last night, groups of students were arrested at UCT then taken to Rondebosch Police Station.

Hundreds of students then arrived at the police station in song and solidarity.

WATCH: Police removed #FeesMustFall protesters from UCT's Bremner Building during early hours of Tuesday morning.

It's unclear if lectures at the University of Cape Town (UCT) will resume this morning.

Several more students have been arrested since this article was first published.
