Do political parties take middle-class voters seriously?

At the National General Council the ANC indicated its intention to woo Gauteng’s black middle-class residents.

The fear is that the party could lose a metro or two in the province during next year’s local elections if black middle-class voters decided to stay away.

Azania Mosaka speaks to Eusebius McKaiser a political and social analyst at the Wits Centre for Ethics. McKaiser explores the question around alienation of the middle-class by political parties from a variety of angles.

He says the ANC is not prioritising the needs of the middle-class instead they are putting the poor and the middle class on the same scale.
