Several constitutional rights legitimise the #FeesMustFall cause - Cathy Powell

The #FeesMustFall protests continue at several universities across South Africa over rising tuition fees.

CapeTalk's Breakfast with Kieno Kammies conducted an outdoor broadcast at the University of Cape Town (UCT) amid ongoing protest action.

Cathy Powell, senior lecturer in Public Law at UCT, said several constitutional rights justify the #FeesMustFall movement.

Listen to the full conversation below:

Scenario planner Clem Sunter and political analyst Moeletsi Mbeki also unpacked the recent events surrounding the student protests.

Listen to the full conversation below:

Clem Sunter, scenario planner

Police say at least 30 students were arrested for trespassing, public violence and high treason outside Parliament on Wednesday, during clashes over rising university fees.

Several South African universities were brought to a standstill in the #NationalShutDown that swept the country.
