Right2know to take Parliament to court over new Inspector General's position

26 October 2015 1:21 PM

The Right2Know Campaign has given parliament until Friday to say why a new Inspector General of Intelligence hasn't been appointed

The NGO Right2know is threatening to go to court to force parliament to appoint a new inspector general of intelligence.

Stephen Grootes spoke to Karabo Rajuili, National Working Group of Right 2 Know on why the NGO is threatening to take Parliament to court.

Rajuili said that the previous inspector's contract came to an end in March 2015 and Parliament hasn't done anything to fill the post and as Right2Know they feel it is important that the position gets filled immediately.

She says that the inspector General in essence is the public protector for activists and citizens who wants to make sure that the spies are not abusing their powers.
