In a shocking revelation of the effects of the drought the country is facing, food prices are reported to be on the rise.
Agriculture Economist, Johan Willemse spoke to Stephen Grootes, saying that SA cannot plant maize currently, due to the low rainfall. He said that maize is a main staple and animal food supply.
He adds that SA has had to import grains, especially white maize which has already increased in price by at least 40%.
