How the SABC CEO got suspended while Hlaudi Motsoeneng keeps his job

The new CEO of the SABC Frans Matlala has reportedly been suspended.

Stephen Grootes spoke to Head of Media Monitoring Africa, William Bird who cites a few reasons for what he calls the 'hail storm' at the SABC; including a combination of "a board that is compromised, members that don't form a quorum, direct ministerial interference and parliament as well as regulator not doing their jobs".

Bird adds that the evidence against Matlala doesn't seem to be particularly strong to warrant him getting suspended, as well as that the comparison between Motsoeneng and Matlala are "extra-ordinarily startling".
