A new organisation called the Forum of Journalists For Transformation launched over the weekend. The forum says that its formation is a response to the media industry not being transformed enough over the last two decades.
Stephen Grootes on Monday spoke to the interim president of the forum, Piet Rampedi, about the sort of issues that the forum will look into.
Our main aim is to see the industry transform structurally and systematically, so we can do work without fear or favour. We are saying there must be diversity. We must tell the entire South African story, not pick and choose which stories we want to tell.— Piet Rampedi, Forum of Journalists For Transformation
We are not afraid to mobilise ourselves as black people. But we are inclusive, we believe that not all black people are for transformation and not all white people are enemies of transformation.— Piet Rampedi, Forum of Journalists For Transformation
