Changemakers Conference – inspiring active citizenry in SA
Happening on the 26th of August 2017, from 08:30 at GIBS, The 2017 Changemakers Conference allows like-minded people who are doing great things, to network with the understanding that they all have a common goal.
A number of high level speakers will also be there to share their knowledge and personal journeys.
He cycled around the entire perimeter of the African continent, circumnavigated Madagascar & Iceland, rowed from mainland Africa to mainland North America, and broke the world record for fastest row in history.
She has a PhD in Economics from the University of London, MSc in Economics and Economic History from the London School of Economics and MA (Distinction) from the University of the Witwatersrand. She writes for various publication both in regionally and internationally.
She’s a South African model, visionary & all round go getter. Acknowledged as SA’s first working albino model. She has worked behind the scenes as an Advertising, Marketing & Media Specialist and TV Production Manager. She was 1 of 15 most powerful women to represent women on Oprah’s 2013 Powerlist.
Dr Taddy Blecher
He’s the CEO of the Community and Individual Development Association and the Maharishi Institute. He founded two broad-based BEE Funds: Imvula Educational Empowerment Fund and Invincible Empowerment Fund. He co-founded the Branson Centre of Entrepreneurship with Sir Richard Branson. He has been selected as 1 of 21 South African Icons in the 21 Icons initiative.
She has won the Google Science Fair and community impact award for the Middle East and Africa. She has been placed on the Times and The Guardians top 30 most influential teens lists. She is currently a student ambassador for WWF (World Wildlife Fund). She has been invited as a speaker at TED talk and Forbes Women's events.
He was the founding General Secretary of COSATU, a Minister in Nelson Mandela's Cabinet, is currently a trustee for Earthrise Trust and remains committed to social justice.
Advocate Dumisa Ntsebeza
He represented political prisoners throughout the 80s and early 90s. He has been appointed one of the Commissioners in the TRC. He is a founder of South African National Association of Democratic Lawyers. He served as president of South Africa's Black Lawyers Association. He’s a member of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC). He has also sat as a judge in various divisions of the High Court of South Africa.
