Cost of temporary licences as levied by CGA if the Walker is not in possession of a valid 2008 CGA Licence:

5km Fun Walk:

A fun walk open to anyone and everyone. A safe secure route for children, junior walkers, prams, dogs on leashes, disabled or pensioners, the fit or the unfit!

8km Walk:

We expect up to 20 000 walkers to support this Walk – and enjoy – open to all, corporates, clubs, families and friends, an event for the entire community.

Discovery is the founder member of the South African arm of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, which uses sport to bring about positive social change. Hamlet Foundation: packing of the Goody Bags, free entry to physically and mentally disabled individuals and associations on application.

History of the race:

The first event took place in 2 000 with 12 000 entrants. In 2004, 25 000 walkers took to the streets of Joburg over the four distances. In 2006 with a revamped and restructured Discovery 702 Walk the Talk we had 30 000 walkers, and in 2007 40 000 participants took part in the event.
