To whom it may concern First may I start by saying well done on a great initiative. Like you I love JHB, the smaller things irritate me and hopefully you can address my issue with the respective authorities? There seems to be so much litter, debris and over grown (tall) weeds on the the highway (esp. on the middle barriers). This is especially evident between the Empire and Woodmead turn offs. Many thanks for considering this mail, I would like to think that i am not the only one writing about this. Many thanks Neil

as there are no visible advertising for the Confed and 2010 WC, w could paint the concrete slabs that seperates the freeways with countries flags etc. as we spend most of our life in trafic between PTA,JHB and OR Tambo it will be the best way to advertise as all the visitors travel in these routes and they stay in trafic as well. i also believe that it will be easy to do as there will not be any contructions required. we can even paint all the bridges etc

De Villiers, Noord streets in the CBD, Pretoria street in Hillbrow and Rockey street in Yeoville need frequent cleaning and JMPD must make sure that illegal hawkers are removed from pavements of those streets so that street fraffic can flow properly. The area around Joubert Park and Park station are filled with illegal hawkers who dont even take care of environment. The park at corner Harrison and De Villiers need to be cleaned and upraded. The grass on M1 need to be cut frequently especially on off ramps. The grass on M14 between Centurion and Midrand need serious attention.

Most storm water drains along Rustenburg Road, Barry Hertzog and Smit Steet are still damaged and therefore not working resulting in severe flooding of these roads after rain.

Dirt has been lying on sidewalks since last attempted cleanup in December 2008. Road is very shabby, overseas visitors stay at smart hotels in this area. Is it asking too much for metro to do their job, this our Platinum mile but the council is plain stupid.

Went to the Market Theatre on Saturday night. There were a number of foreign tourists at the show. While the Market Theatre is great, Mary Fitzgerald Square and many surrounding streets are in total darkness with especially those new street lights that resemble smoke stacks not working. The lights on top of the Nelson Mandela Bridge do not work. The whole area was very deserted and forbidding. Better lighting would help alot. Mary Fitzgerald Square itself has blue lights set into the square itself that are in the formation of the night sky that was on 27 April 1994 and its a real shame that this cannot be shown off because the lights are not working.

The weeds growing on the sides and in the middle of the motorways are ramapant, take note of the middle island between Corlett Drive and Grayston Drive. This makes a terrible impression on our visitors. It will be easy for the municipality to put together a cleaning team, move through all the highways and clean up the weeds. They should use a weed killer to ensure that the weeds do not return, and can collect all the litter at the same time.
