BABY ITS COLD OUTSIDE!
This project is motivated by my friend, Marietta van Staden, for other crafters to knit and crochet items for premies and newborn babies ~ warm hats, mittens, booties, socks, slippers, jerseys, jackets, vests and blankets for your own community.
If you are a knitter, crocheter, loom knitter or sewer, you might be asking "How can I help?" It's easy! Simply find a place near you who might need some warm clothes for babies this winter (premature babies need warm clothes all year round as they haven’t learnt to control their body temperature yet and need your help to keep warm even in summer).

http://www.bbc.co.uk/stoke/your_community/ray_of_hope/babywear_a_z_index.shtml
and get started!
This project will run all year!!!
Call your friends, get together, and let's warm babies in need!
Please tell others about this project! Let's warm the babies this winter.
Here are some ideas for places that might need what you make:
Paediatrics wards, NICU's and maternity wards. You choose. Let's see if we can get someone from as many countries as possible, involved! As you complete items feel free to write on the event wall. Let's start helping babies today!
Please join in and be “counted”.

In today’s frenetic, busy, rapidly changing world, it is all too easy to become fearful and highly stressed, a state of inner dis-ease that will inevitably lead to disease if not corrected. If you are feeling stressed out and overwhelmed by modern life and the challenges you are experiencing in your life, we invite you to take some time out every Sunday afternoon to find the stillness and the peace deep within you that dissolves anxiety and stress by doing a guided meditation session facilitated by Jonathan Quail, a spiritual teacher, life coach, speaker, trainer, entrepreneur and co-founder of Lifebuild, along with other like-minded people. By attending these sessions over a period of time, you will learn how to:
- Be aware of your thoughts and emotions and be present in the now moment at all times
- Forgive any and all situations and people to release their negative effects on your life forever and
transform all your relationships into unconditionally loving ones
- Meditate on your own to experience this inner peace for yourself and carry it into the rest of your life
- Breathe consciously for relaxation and health
- Love exercise by breathing properly
- Create more abundance in every area of your life by being in a state of ‘flow’ more often.
“After meditation, I feel very relaxed and at ease whilst also full of energy and a keen sense of awareness….” – Guy Daniel, about his experience of meditating using one of the meditation techniques you will experience by coming to the sessions“I felt connected, inner peace, bliss and safe. Meditation is my gift and life. Namaste!” – Thabiso Kewagamang, regular practitioner of a meditation technique taught to him by Jonathan Quail
Each session will start with a brief talk about meditation - what its effects are and why everyone should practise it regularly. Send an email to admin@lifebuild.com to book your place/s now. You may pay for the session in cash before it starts or take it off your contract if you are a regular practitioner of Bikram yoga. For more information about Jonathan Quail and meditation, go to www.blissout.co.za and see below for more information about a one-day Power Meditation workshop he is facilitating on the 16th of June.

The Black Tie Ensemble (BTE) based in South African State Theatre have announced that BTE is facing severe financial challenges and if substantial and immediate funding is not obtained will be forced to cease all running operations.
BTE was founded in March 1999 by legendary Opera Diva, Mimi Coertse and renowned Director Neels Hansen in order to preserve the rich tradition of Opera whilst creating employment opportunities for talented artists.
In the past 11 years of existence, The BTE has reached a position where it is respected as a professional Performance Company as well as a vital key player in the development of youth from disadvantaged backgrounds. The Black Tie Ensemble has been successful in its efforts to empower local singers and has made a great contribution to further develop the rich tradition of live theatre performance in South Africa. BTE remains the only Opera Company in South Africa that offers Youth Development Initiatives such as The Incubator Scheme, as we believe the Incubator Scheme to be a “Prevention Programme” as studies world wide show how active participation in music and the arts activities improves the quality of social and academic performance among children and youth and has rendered many success stories such as Vuyani Mlinde, who started as the “first” Incubator Student in 2001 making his debut in the first BTE production of Verdi’s Rigoletto. Other roles followed and he got the opportunity to study overseas and today performs internationally.
BTE requires immediate and substantial funds in order to continue with the running of the administrative operations as well as our unique development initiatives that invests in the future of our artistic youth. Any interested parties whom wish to ensure the future of BTE are kindly requested to contact the following who will be able to provide options for individual, private and corporate donors whom wish to assist.

Dear Friends,
It’s been a while, but Gift 2 Hear needs your help once again.
For those who do not know the last week of August into the first week of September is
“DEAFNESS AWARENESS WEEK” in South Africa.
As being deaf is a silent handicap and often overlooked. Gift 2 Hear needs and wants to keep this awareness alive.
Due to the world cup, Gift 2 Hear decided not to host a barnyard event over the September month. I would like to ask for any donation to help either cash or sponsorship for a hearing aid for the following sixteen children on the waiting list at the Rahima Moosa Hospital. See attachment.
We also have over 100 underprivileged from Klerksdorp in the North West Province that been on a waiting list for a simple hearing device to hear for some time. List will be sent out once we help our first list at the Rahima Moosa Hospital.
Should you wish to sponsor a child in full, pleasesend me an email so that your company will be invoiced directly for tax purpose. A photo of the child/children will be sent to you once the child you have supported, receives his or her “gift 2 hear”.
If you are a school teacher, Gift 2 Hear asks you and your school for your support over the Deaf awareness week to have a R2 civvies day, your support can change a life of a child who is living in a silent world and it can be changed with a simple hearing device.
Any donation is one step closer for the children to hear again.
Imagine living in the world of silence, I know I can’t.
Help me make a different,
I once again THANK YOU for your support during 2010.
Tamra

PAKISTAN FLOOD RELIEF
Greetings of Peace
Dear Recipients
We are inundated with queries regarding a response to the Pakistani Flood Crisis. Gift of the Givers has two fundamental principles before we respond:
1. An appeal for international assistance must be made and
2. The possibility of effective and reliable access into the affected areas is fundamental before we commit supplies or personnel. In terms of the enormity of the disaster there is no doubt that assistance is required; people are hungry, emotionally and physically traumatised, in need of medical care, clean water, clothing, shelter and utensils.
An appeal for international assistance was finally made over the weekend by the Pakistani Prime Minister. The question of access is still the main hurdle as continuous rains, inability of helicopters to fly and indeed insufficient helicopters and boats to move people and supplies are all huge constraints. The vastness of the floods requires, in some instances, 3 hours of flying to one point and 3 hours back. This is a huge difficulty for any government, no matter how well organised it may be.
Gift of the Givers is preparing an airlift of water purification tablets, medication and high energy supplements from South Africa, and has sourced tents, foods, bottled water and blankets in Pakistan. We are actively researching the best option to ensure effective, speedy delivery but that is the challenge. Teams are already on the ground in Pakistan and the network used during our response to the Pakistani earthquake in 2005 has been reactivated. Once effective, reliable systems are in place we will make the announcement, so please be patient a little longer. The possibility of sending medical personnel and counsellors is also on the agenda but we will handle it one phase at a time. For more details call Toll free on 0800 786 777.

Every Thursday Night, where young artists will be performing.
Blank Canvas is the place to be inspired, to explore and discover new art forms, or be discovered. It is where art and creativity come alive. Blank canvas wants to create a platform in which the young, unknown, but talented artist, whether a painter, a musician, a poet, film maker, actor or whatever you are can be seen. There is no art form that will not be showcased. It will be nights to remember as you will be entertained by a variety of art forms within one evening. Come and be inspired by evenings of relaxing, enjoying the rich, fresh and new culture that this art creates.
You can come and just enjoy, but if you want to show your work, or perform, we would love to hear from you.
