Random Acts of Kindness with Dis-Chem

Dis-Chem Foundation: Recovering drug addicts get a helping hand

In a means to address the scourge of drugs in an Ennerdale, a retired brigadier, Peter Billings, has worked tirelessly with projects and centers to offer help to young drug addicts.

Through Brigadier Billings, Dis-Chem and 702 met Brandon and Marlon who run an outpatient counseling and after school facility through NGO Ladies for Hope.

It caters to children identified as addicts by the local schools.

Both Brandon and Marlon are former addicts who now run awareness campaigns in schools.

The two offer books, help with reading and homework, school uniform for those who don’t have, and a basic gym for physical training.

Dis-Chem and 702 went on to meet another recovering addict who sold his own cars to start a rehabilitation centre from an old warehouse which he is slowly refurbishing through small donations.

Vision 4 U started 8 months ago and is currently housing 14 addicts who receive intensive counselling, as well as do all the chores to maintain and develop the facilities.

Penny Stein from the Dis-Chem Foundation's latest Random Act of Kindness has pledged ongoing support in terms of both drug kits, and meeting the hygiene needs of the patients who are supported by both of these projects.
