Africa Report Police in Uganda have raided two newspapers and two radio stations in a bid to discover the source of a story embarrassing to the government of President Yoweri Museveni. On 7 May, the Daily Monitor published an article about the so-called "Muhoozi project". It claimed that there was a conspiracy to frame, or eliminate, high-ranking members of the government who do not support a plan for Museveni's son, Brigadier Muhoozi Kainerugaba, to assume power when his father steps down.
About 120 militant Islamists have been arrested in Nigeria's north-eastern city of Maiduguri, as they were organising the burial of a commander. The military has also recaptured five areas from the militants. President Goodluck Jonathan declared a state of emergency in three north-eastern states last week to quell the insurgency by the Boko Haram group.
Police say they were overwhelmed by the large crowd when a stampede killed four people at a church in Ghana's capital, Accra, on Sunday. Thousands of people flocked to the evangelical church for "holy water", which they believed had healing powers, leading to the crush. The church is run by prominent Nigerian preacher TB Joshua.

U K Report Rescuers searching the remains of a house in Nottinghamshire that was destroyed in an explosion have found the body of a man. Four other people - a man, a woman and two children - were taken to hospital after the blast had reduced the house in Wright Street, Newark, to rubble. The search for a missing sixth person who may still be inside will resume when the property is made safe.
Britain's first "official" astronaut, Major Tim Peake, has been chosen to take part in a five-month mission on the International Space Station (ISS). The 41-year-old, who graduated as a European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut, has been chosen to complete the lengthy stay in orbit in 2015, when he will be blasted into space on a Russian Soyuz rocket and take part in spacewalks and other complex scientific research.
Chelsea Flower Show is celebrating its centenary year - and has even lifted its ban on gnomes to mark the occasion, with a host of stars invited to decorate the ornaments. Among those getting the first glimpse at this year's blooms were baker Mary Berry, gardening expert Alan Titchmarsh and actress Joanna Lumley.

U S Report US President Barack Obama has declared a major disaster in Oklahoma after a 3km-wide tornado packing winds of up to 320kph tore through the state capital killing at least 51 people, including 20 children, and injuring at least 230. The Oklahoma medical examiner's office said it was expecting the death toll to rise to 91 people.
A new study shows that a different kind of intervention might help patients in ICU: music. The study, published Monday in the Journal of the American Medical Association, found patients in the music group received 38 percent fewer doses of sedatives. Those who listened to the music of their choice not only had greater reduction in anxiety but also used fewer sedation drugs and lower doses compared to patients who did not have access to music — they received usual ICU care.
Two California men were in custody on Monday after accidentally dialing 911 on a cellphone before breaking into a car. After the mistaken "pocket" call, a police dispatcher was able to hear a rambling 35-minute conversation that went from trying to find a way to get drugs to breaking into a car.
