Food riots in Maputo He told us about the food riots in Maputo. At least four people including two young boys died as ordinary Mozambicans took to the streets yesterday protesting against bread and fuel increases. An anonymous email calling for the strike was widely distributed in the city early this week and this resulted in schools and shops being closed while taxi drivers stayed away from the city centre.
