Talk Radio 702 today announced several changes to its weekend line-up, including new breakfast show hosts and an increase in airtime for its Solid Gold music programmes.
The popular former weekend breakfast host, Tom London, now takes over the three-hour talk show, Talk at Nine, between 9pm and midnight each weeknight. The show has been without a permanent presenter since January 2007, when former host Redi Direko moved to the 9am to 12pm slot, left vacant when Tim Modise left the station in December 2006.
Leigh Bennie, current host of the station's service-oriented 'A Word On.' shows between 7 and 9pm each week night and 10am and 1pm on a Saturday, replaces Tom London as breakfast show host on a Saturday morning between 7and 10am.
Movie, arts and culture buff, Barry Ronge moves from his current slot between 10am and 1pm on a Sunday to replace Tom London as Sunday morning's breakfast show host between 7 and 10am.
The popular Solid Gold Saturday and Solid Gold Sunday shows are being extended and will now start at 10am. These shows will be hosted by Alan Barnard, Big Boy Moagi and Robin Clark.
"We are delighted to be able to offer Tom London a regular weekday show on 702 after going from strength to strength on his weekend shows. We believe that Tom's unique talent is going to attract a strong following on Talk at Nine. Our Solid Gold shows are being extended in response to listener demand," said Talk Radio 702 station manager, Pheladi Gwangwa.
Tom London takes over Talk at Nine from Monday, 4 June.
