EYEWITNESS NEWS HOTLINE LAUNCHED

Monday, 25 February 2008

Primedia Broadcasting last week launched a new, 24-hour Eyewitness News Hotline, aimed at enhancing and further entrenching its eyewitness news concept amongst listeners.

Eyewitness News is the group’s pioneering, independent news brand that relies on members of the public for news leads, information and of course, eyewitness accounts. The new hotline is an extension of this popular concept.

“We receive many leads from members of the public and the launch of the hotline is to grow this culture. We want to encourage the public to let us know of anything they see or hear, and as such want them to be our eyes and ears. This is directly in line with our motto ‘as it happens, when it happens’,” explained Yusuf Abramjee, Primedia Broadcasting group head of news and talk programming.

The hotline is linked to the company’s Johannesburg newsroom, which services its two Gauteng stations, Talk Radio 702 and 94.7 Highveld Stereo.

Listeners can pass their news on by calling the dedicated hotline number, 08-6000-NEWS.
