Talk Radio 702 World at Six tops radio rankings

Thursday, 18 October 2007

Talk Radio 702 and 567 CapeTalk’s award-winning evening business show, the World at Six, presented by Bruce Whitfield, has emerged as the radio business show most listened to by industry players.

This is according to the latest SABRE 2007 research, which measures the media consumption habits of 320 000 business people, across management, executives and professionals.

The survey was conducted by Markinor and found that in the radio category, the World at Six has 6% audience penetration. This is opposed to similar programmes on Classic FM, Kaya FM and SAFM, all which have 5% audience penetration.

“We are delighted with this latest research. Bruce and his team work very hard to keep the show fresh, current and most of all, interesting – and this is proof that we’re on the right track,” said Pheladi Gwangwa, Talk Radio 702 station manager. “The show is much more than just a business show. It has a good balance of news and information, including business news, eyewitness news, traffic and sport, ensuring that listeners get all the information they need to make their journey home as interesting as possible.”

The World at Six is broadcast on both Talk Radio 702 in Johannesburg and 567 CapeTalk in Cape Town every night between 6pm and 7pm. It provides a wrap of the day’s business news and markets, as well as top industry insight into the market movers and shakers and local and global business trends.

In May this year, host Bruce Whitfield won the prestigious Sanlam Financial Journalist of the Year Award in the broadcast category; and scooped a Citadel Words on Money Award in the print category, for features that appeared in FINweek on bank charges.
