BMW ULTIMATE RACE CAR CHALLENGE
75 future technology engineers pit their BMW models against one another in the ultimate BMW Radio Controlled Car Challenge. It takes place at the Bedford Race Track tomorrow (28 August) from 1 - 3pm.
FUNDRAISING FETE
Salvation Army Firlands Children’s Home is holding a GIGANTIC FUNDRAISING FETE tomorrow (28th August) from 8am at the Corner 4th Avenue and 11th Street Linden.
The home caters for children of all ages and from all backgrounds. Most of the children have been placed in the home by the courts and social work departments. This is one of the three children’s homes run by the Salvation Army in Johannesburg and caters for approximately 70 children at a time. They promise fun and entertainment for the whole family. Bargains at our Garden, Book, Bric-A-Brac, Jewellery and Gift stalls. A variety of food stalls. Entertainment includes Skydivers, dog shows and a variety of entertainers. Lots of fun for the children with Bungee jumping, train rides and inflatable obstacle course. Come and enjoy the day whilst supporting a worthy Children’s Home.
JOBURG BURNING 4
Joburg Burning 4 takes place in the Melville area tonight and tomorrow and features more than 40 bands playing at five different venues. This revolutionary club-hopping mini-festival includes Roxy Rhythm Bar, Bohemian, Cool Runnings Melville, Jozi G Spot and Back2Basix. Attendance for Joburg Burning will be limited to 1500 people to ensure that each venue is safe, comfortable and accessible. The best part is that free commuter minibuses will transport guests between all the venues every 10 minutes. One entry fee gives you access to all the venues and bands as well as the free transport between venues all night. A 2 day ticket pass costs R200 and is available through www.ticketbreak.co.za. A one day pass or tomorrow costs R150.
PARKHURST FESTIVAL OF MINIATURES
This weekend the Johannesburg Society of Miniature Enthusiasts will present its annual Festival of Miniatures. Indulge your senses in a miniature world, with an exhibition of work presented by the members of the JSME, as well as other clubs in the Gauteng area. You will also be able to shop for everything you need to start a new hobby: from dollhouse kits and plans, to books, wood, furniture and fittings, miniature lights, dolls, wallpaper and flooring… The Festival is at the Parkhurst Recreation Centre hall, cnr of 13th Ave and 5th Street, Parkhurst. The Festival hours are 10am - 4pm on both days and the entrance fee is R10 per person. R5 for children under 12.
