Profiling CEO of Yoco, Katlego Maphai

Profiling CEO of Yoco, Katlego Maphai

CEO and co-founder of fin-tech startup Yoco, Katlego Maphai, speaks on the inspiration behind their card payment machines which helped around 50000 SMME's increase their revenue.

Maphai, who holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from UCT, has a background in management consulting and venture development. Since its launch in 2015, Yoco has become the largest independent mobile point-of-sale (POS) player in the country and boasts big clients including Weylandts and The Neighbourgoods Market. The company, which has helped empower overlooked entrepreneurs to accept card payments at their stores using a wireless reader and a smartphone or tablet, had in September 2018 raised around R248 million from international and local investors.
