From the man that brought us ‘Where Did You Go? (Summer Love)’ – we have a brand new anthem for the Summer, called ‘Summer Life’!
The man in question, Regi (aka DJ Regi aka Regi Penxten).
This past weekend (Saturday, 5 October 2019) on the Coca-Cola Top40SA, Carl Wastie called up the Belgian DJ-producer, who happens to spend quite a bit of time in South Africa, to find out about his new single, which features vocals from Jake Reese & OT.
During their chat, Regi revealed just how much he loves South Africa - and the Western Cape in particular; as well as the immense pride he felt the first time he heard ‘Where Did You Go? (Summer Love)’ playing on South African radio, explaining that he was driving through Sea Point, tuned in to Kfm 94.5 and all of a sudden, he heard his single.
Carl and Regi also spoke about possible collab opportunities for local vocalists on the Belgian's future projects and by the end of the conversation, it sounded like the two had an appointment for the next time Regi is in South Africa.
ZYO’s back with a song that needs to part of all Summer party playlists. Called ‘Ingoma Yam’ – the song features Kitso Seti and Thandeka Mfinyongo – and is a true Afro Pop track.
On Saturday, 21 November 2020, the masked producer caught up with Carl Wastie on the multiple award-winning Kfm Top 40 - from an undisclosed location.
ZYO first rose to prominence on Kfm 94.5 with his hit, 'Dockside Days' which featured the vocals of Mathew Gold and charted for a number of weeks within the Top 10 on the chart. In this new offering, he continues to bring us a beat that promises to move your feet this Summer.
Take a listen to his chat with Carl Wastie...
Hot on the heels of her successful collaboration with Jimmy Nevis, 'Game Over', a track that peaked at no.6 on the Kfm Top 40 with Carl Wastie and still remains on the chart - Amy Tjasink is back with a new single.
Called 'You Look So Good', the track was formulated following an argument with her partner and takes us on a rollercoaster of feels.
On Saturday, 21 November 2020, Carl Wastie gave Amy Tjasink a call to find out more about the single and really to celebrate this young starlet who hails from Fish Hoek.
On Saturday, 21 November 2020, Amy Jones joined Carl Wastie on the Kfm Top 40 to chat about her new single, 'Imagine', which features the sound of iconic Cape Town saxophonist, Don Vino.
Whilst in-studio on the award-winning chart show, Carl Wastie offered Amy Jones a challenge: to put her own spin on BTS' hit single (and former no.1 on the Kfm Top 40) - 'Dynamite'. Amy accepted the challenge and the results were magical.
With a busy 2020 that saw him release mega-hit ‘Mortal Man’ and launch his own food security organisation that raised north of R1 million, singer, songwriter and producer Jeremy Loops is ready to share new music with you: his single ‘Til I Found You’!
On Saturday, 14 November 2020, the Kommetjie local who's enjoyed worldwide fame - and collaborated with the same people who write for Ed Sheeran and Milky Chance - joined Carl Wastie on the multiple award-winning Kfm Top 40 to discuss the new single - as well as the epic music video, which as it turns out, marks Jeremy’s directorial debut, something he’s very proud of.
As always, inspiration was the name of the game as Jeremy Loops spoke of how the track came to be, how he learned to direct (spoiler: YouTube tutorials came in handy!) and how his work on creating sustainable food security was starting to bear some very real fruit.
More than ever though, the song just made us excited about Summer!
It’s official... Rowlene has released her new album: ’11:11’.
The album – released under Nasty C’s label, Tall Racks Records – dropped on Friday, 13 November 2020... so naturally, Carl Wastie had to get her on the line to congratulate her about the new record on the Kfm Top 40.
At 11:11am on the 14th day of the eleventh month, Carl called up Rowlene, and instead of doing "your typical interview" with her - decided to do a listening party of the album, playing clips from each track and allowing Rowlene the opportunity to give us the background behind the song. Turns out, she as a lot of favourites, and you will too once you've listened to the young starlet's breakout album.
One week following the release of his latest single, 'Falling', Majozi's ultimate love song debuted on the Kfm Top 40 at no.33 on Saturday, 14 November 2020.
What many don't know: when he was in-studio the week prior to promote the new single (Saturday, 7 November 2020), Majozi mentioned to Carl Wastie off-air that he loved how Jethro Tait's mom surprised him with the news when 'Dreams' first charted... and so an idea was born...
The award-winning Kfm Top 40 with Carl Wastie hatched a plan to surprise Majozi in a similar fashion, should 'Falling' ever make its way onto the chart.
Thanks to all your love - from requests on Kfm 94.5 to streams via your favourite reputable streaming service - the song made its way onto the Kfm Top 40 with Carl Wastie in the course of one week and so "Mission: Surprise Majozi" was given the green light and started work.
As 'Falling' was written as a love song for his long-term girlfriend, Daniela, who has recently undergone her own a battle with mental health (and now an advocate for making the subject of mental health less taboo) - Carl Wastie enlisted the help of Daniela to break the news to Majozi.
Meanwhile, Majozi was advised that Carl had made a remix of the song that he wanted him to hear... when it came to playing the remix though, Daniela's voice came the air to congratulate her partner on making it onto the chart - in what was a beautiful, tear-jerking moment that you have to hear to feel...
A week after his new single, 'Magenta', dropped - it made its way onto the award-winning Kfm Top 40 with Carl Wastie.
On Saturday, 7 November 2020, Carl Wastie decided to do one of his famous artist surprises - where he gave Jimmy Nevis a call, telling the artist who holds the record for the longest stay atop the chart from any South African, that he is officially on the chart: entering at no.32.
DJ Cosher's collab with Sunset Sweatshop - 'I Love This Feeling' - is definitely a summer song of note - so naturally, it's made its debut on the Kfm Top 40 with Carl Wastie.
On Saturday, 7 November 2020, Carl Wastie called up the Cape Town producer to surprise him with the news that his new single was charting on the multiple award-winning Kfm Top 40.
What do you get when you bring one of South Africa's most inspirational online personalities - a man that went viral as Mzansi was hit by COVID-19 lockdowns - and mix is most famous message with music?
You don't have to guess any longer, as The Kiffness has teamed up with Max Hurrell for an inspirational track that features the vocals of none other than SA’s very own Demi Demi.
Called 'Tough Time Never Last', the single, which released on 6 November 2020, represents some of South Africa's top meme artists coming together on a track that will leave you feeling positive.
On Saturday, 7 November 2020, Carl Wastie called up David Scott of The Kiffness to find out a little more about how this gem of a single came to be...
Inspired by his girlfriend’s journey with mental health, ‘Falling’ is the latest offering from Majozi, who’s also in the jersey business now - having created 100 jerseys that he's shared with fans, friends and family alike.
On Saturday, 7 November 2020, Majozi joined Carl Wastie in-studio on the Kfm Top 40 for a quick chat about ‘Falling’, which he hopes will bring joy to those who relate to it.
But as he does, Majozi arrived with a guitar in hand, so instead of playing the actual single, Carl Wastie got the Cape Town pop/folk singer to perform his latest single on the multiple award-winning chart show.
Carl also tested Majozi's music knowledge... to see how many of his own songs he knows! How many is that? Listen to find out...
