Should we decriminalise Prostitution


Guest : Kholi Buthelezi | National Co-Ordinator at Sisonke Sex Worker'S Movement |             Mickey Meji | Earlier this week President Cyrial Ramaphosa lefrt the door open for the decriminalisation of sex work. Speaking in Johannesburg, where he signed a gender-based violence declaration and opened a newly built court building. The President told his audience that government was working to reviewe existing laws and policies and will work to develop policy around the decriminalisation of sex work. While this is underway, in Germany, a South African activist is speaking at the third world congress against sexual exploitation of women and girls. Speaking at the conference, Mickey Meji told delegates that although prostition may come across as an attractive short-term financial benefit, it has not shown any indication to lift women out of lifelong poverty and economic equality.
