Andrew Thompson on speedbumps

Guest : Andrew Thompson

Speed bumps are proven to be the most effective way to slow down traffic but there is
no set regulation governing its specifications in SA.
The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research recommends that rounded speed
bumps should be 3.7 metres long and between 80mm and 120mm high, depending on
how much they are supposed to restrict speed but often it's left to contractors to decide
how high and long they are.
Installing one, officially, costs at least R20,000.
