JERM’S FRIDAY FIX:
Favourite App: Probably Whatsapp because it keeps me connected, for cheap, to friends and family. I don't really have a favourite, though. I do, however, like smartphones and have two; an Android and an iPhone. I currently prefer my iPhone.
Favourite tweeter: I don't really have one. Is that a bad thing? (Mind you, I tend to enjoy tweets from journos and comedians.)
Favourite blogger: I don't really read blogs much, anymore. Twitter and Facebook have filled that space. But I do regularly read Boing Boing (for its science spin), Gawker (for its pop culture spin), and 9GAG (for a laugh at its stupid, slapstick humour). Is Daily Maverick a blog? If so, then it's one of my regular reads too.
Best weekly read: Is probably my cartoon updates. I don't have too much time, lately, to read cartoons every day. I find myself trying to catch up on a weekly basis, or maybe a bit more. And I try find new songs to learn on my ukulele. I love playing my ukulele because it's a kind of escape (and the most fun you'll have for a grand).
Favourite TV show: Has to be Game Of Thrones, hands down. I also love the New Girl (isn't Zooey gorgeous?), and I enjoy How I Met Your Mother. My wife tried to get me to watch House, but it didn't grab me.

RICO’s FRIDAY FIX
Favourite Smartphone app:
I'm a bit of a Luddite -- use my phone mainly as a PHONE and for messaging ... but will access Facebook on it occasionally -- reason is that by nature of my work I am static at my computer during work-day and when i am away, I tend to disconnect from the "noise" -- just been on honeymoon a few weeks back in Mauritius... no internet, no social media, ... check for messages once in morning, once in evening ... kept the phone in the hotel room safe most of the rest of the time -- BLISS :-)
Favourite Tweeter:
...find Twitter too distracting to follow on consistent basis... will dip into Twitter now and then (am a dipster instead of a hipster, I guess... dip into a lot of interests but not much keeps my attention for long)
Favourite Blogger:
follow lots of blogs of artists/cartoonists etc (does Daily Maverick count as a blog?) - here are two offbeat blogs I enjoy:
bookshelfporn.com Bookshelf Porn... not what you think - go have a look... it's brilliant if you're nuts about books like myself.
unhappyhipsters.com - very funny blog that takes the piss out of pretentious modern architecture and interior design mags like wallpaper by adding some really funny and non-sequiteur comments to photographs of well, modern and pretentious and minimalist houses etc... go look to see what I mean.
Best weekly read:
Mail & Guardian and whatever book I have at hand (just finished Brink's Philida and the new Sebastain Faulks novels and now re-reading parts of an epic book about World War 1 at sea, "Castles of Steel") ... I struggle with weekend newspapers as I get saturated during the week and come end of Friday it's "enough already!"
Favourite TV show:
Comedy: Big Bang Theory
Drama: Downton Abbey
Reality/ documentary: used to be Masterchef (but tired of that now) ... for brain candy I occasionally watch "Pawn Stars" and "Storage Wars"

Favourite app: phototoaster is a useful tool for editing photos on set.
Twitter: There’s a guy called @johnvanderuit, who has a pretty decent sense of humour.
Fave blog: The Empire Online Blog (www.empireonline.com/empireblog) is always fun. They have a great sense of humour when it comes to discussing film, and backed by serious film knowledge, it makes for an entertaining read.
Favourite tv show: Danish series "The Killing"; Homeland.
