| Fernando Torres at the Zoo Lake |
| A young listener was lucky enought to catch Fernando Torres at Zoo Lake, and got a photo with him! His grandmother Eileen Kahanovitz sent John an email with the 'full story'. Read more below.

This is a photo of my grandsons taken with Fernando Torres at the Zoo Lake yesterday (04 July 2010).
There is quite a little story that goes with it. My son went to play tennis there yesterday (which he never does) and decided to have breakfast with his buddy (which he never ever does) they were leaving when the World Cup bus arrived with the entire Spanish team in it. Because his older son is a mad Spain supporter, he decided to follow it and watched as they disembarked and proceeded to run around the lake. Just then his wife phoned to find out when he would be home and he said "just get the kids here NOW". Like all good wives (which she never does) she grabbed the kids (still in her pj's) and off to the Zoo Lake she went! Five minutes later when his kids arrived they didn't even see him, all they saw was FERNANDO TORRES.
It's too late for me to cut a long story short so I will carry on with the long version.
They were all so thrilled to follow the team around their jog. Of course
Ben "just happened" to be wearing his Spanish shirt. Eventually the team
started returning to their bus and my son thought "dammit" its now or never (except it wasn't dammit that he was really thinking, being an old respectable granny I wouldn't know any word he may have been thinking) with his knees knocking and his voice breaking my 41 year old son shouted out "Fernando we are Spain and Liverpool supporters please, please will you have a photo taken with my boys", and this famous, gorgeous and gracious young man said "SURE".
The result is this beautiful photo, but it is more than that, it is 100 per cent happiness for two little boys during our country's 2010 World Cup. |
