Joburg Mayor says Auditor-General’s report shows that the balance for unauthorised expenditure reached nearly R3.5 billion.

The City of Johannesburg has tabled a report at the City Council meeting showing maladministration and corruption by the previous administration under the African National Congress (ANC).

The City says the Auditor-General’s report shows that the balance for unauthorised expenditure reached nearly R3.5 billion with nearly R700 million of that being incurred in the last financial year.

According to the City, wasteful expenditure reached nearly R27 million with nearly R8 million being wasted in the last financial year.

City of Joburg Mayor Herman Mashaba says the City will make sure that all the money stolen is recovered.

Corruption in the City of Johannesburg was no longer corruption, it was a blatant looting of State resources.
