Are you a survivor of sexual violence? SMS “endrape” to 38006

Health-e News is a television and print health news service that has been producing news and in-depth analysis for national media since 1999.

It has television, online and print clients and has a nationwide network of citizen journalists called OurHealth who are based in rural villages and small towns throughout the country.

This week, Health-e News launched an innovative app that will assist with the scourge of rape as well as help rape and sexual abuse survivors.

Multimedia journalist with Health e-news, Kim Harrisberg, says rape survivors can send a text message with the words 'end rape' to 38006 and an automatic response with questions about the incidents.

Harrisberg adds that rape survivors will also be connected with Thuthuzela Care Centres across the country.

And then finally, directs them to a campaign we have launched with Amandla.mobi

Harrisberg goes on to say that given the consent from the rape victims and survivors, testimonies will be shared on shared on social media networks to prompt engagement, awareness and empower other sexual violence survivors.

We're trying to show survivors that they aren't alone.
