Investigative journalist Jacques Pauw says President Cyril Ramaphosa must urgently act against State Security Agency (SSA) boss Arthur Fraser.

The Inspector General of Intelligence Setlhomamaru Dintwe has accused Fraser of interfering with investigations at the intelligence service.

Dintwe approached the High Court to interdict Fraser from interfering in his duties.

It's alleged that Fraser has threatened Dintwe and tried to block an investigation into allegations against the spy boss.

Puaw explains that Dintwe has authority and oversight powers over the SSA and Fraser.

It appears Fraser refused to cooperate with Dintwe and revoked his security clearance in what Pauw describes as an unheard of move.

It seems as if Arthur Fraser has gone a bit rogue.

Jacques Pauw, author and investigative journalist

The Inspector General of Intelligence is the only body that has oversight over the SSA.

The Inspector General of Intelligence can walk into the SSA, demand any file and talk to anyone. He is entitled to have knowledge and check the SSA.

Jacques Pauw, author and investigative journalist

It shows that Arthur Fraser is not just corrupt, but that he is probably unstable as well.

Jacques Pauw, author and investigative journalist

This has never happened in our democracy. I think President Cyril Ramaphosa should act against Arthur Fraser.
