Eusebius McKaiser: 'This is a shocking story even if it is half true'

Eusebius Mckaiser shares his views on a recent article about the EFF using live ammunition on their members.

Responding to an article published in the Sowetan titled Julius Malema's car pelted in EFF brawl, Eusebius McKaiser says it is a shocking story even if it is half true.

He adds that journalistically, the EFF needs to give their side of the story.

EFF leader Julius Malema's vehicle was allegedly pelted with rocks and beer bottles at his party's Gauteng people's assembly in the Vaal on Saturday.

Eusebius McKaiser, Show Host.

Things got out of control at the Assembley of God conference centre in Henley-on-Klip in Meyerton on Saturday night when stun grenades and rubber bullets were fired to disperse a group of angry EFF members who accused Malema of sidelining their preferred candidate from being Gauteng chair.

Eusebius McKaiser, Show Host.

The cause of the ugly confrontation was former University of Johannesburg branch leader Abednego Mathole.

Eusebius McKaiser, Show Host.

Mathole told Sowetan last night that Malema told him he was not going to be nominated to contest for the position of provincial chairperson.

Eusebius McKaiser, Show Host.

"He said I assaulted an SG (EFF secretary-general Godrich Gardee) and that was an automatic expulsion from the party," he said.

Eusebius McKaiser, Show Host.

Firstly, if that is true and we need to know the EFF side on this, where are your processes?

Eusebius McKaiser, Show Host.

You dont sommer just bump into someone and say hey, by the way, automatic expulsion.

Eusebius McKaiser, Show Host.

McKaiser questioned where the EFF's processes were.

READ:Did Julius Malema fire a rifle in public or was it a simulation?

Unless Julius Malema is the EFF's constitution which will tell you a lot about the guy's approach towards politics, which quite frankly is authoritarian, if true.

Eusebius McKaiser, Show Host.

Matole goes on and here is the bit that I think is particularly important to reflect on.

Eusebius McKaiser, Show Host.

Mathole claimed that Malema's bodyguards fired live rounds during the fracas.

Eusebius McKaiser, Show Host.

Mathole was challenging Mandisa Mashego for the position of provincial chair.

Eusebius McKaiser, Show Host.

McKaiser says this is not the only person that was firing live rounds.

Someone else, Mpho Mphahlele, an EFF member, also alleged in a post on Facebook that Malema's bodyguards had fired live rounds.

Eusebius McKaiser, Show Host.

This is what Mphahlele had said quote: "Tonight we survived. We dodged bullets from Malema's military and he went on to say after Malema's speech his bodyguards got into a car. When they were leaving, some delegates started heckling Malema which is fine, that is part of the hurly-burly of speech.

Eusebius McKaiser, Show Host.

Listen to what happens next on this person's version, apparently, Malema's car moved forward and made a U-turn.

Eusebius McKaiser, Show Host.

I quote, the security from the car comes out together with the CIC [commander-in-chief Malema]. Then they beat people up, there was a gunshot and the crowd dispersed.

Eusebius McKaiser, Show Host.
