Independent Media's Ashfak Mohamed says the SA athlete was professional and classy at the Montreuil athletics in Paris.

South African athlete Caster Semenya on Tuesday won the 2,000m race at the Montreuil athletics in Paris.

This is her first race since filing an appeal against the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) ruling to lower testosterone levels in female runners.

Independent Media digital sports editor Ashfak Mohamed says the race was a little bit out of Semenya's comfort zone.

It was a bit chilly and the track was quite wet. It wasn't a diamond race and she wouldn't have known what to expect but she went straight to the front almost from the start.

She kept the pace throughout and it wasn't the normal kick we usually see in the 800m where she just runs away from everybody.

Very professionally run race, really classy of the typical Caster Semenya we all know and love.

According to Mohamed, Semenya will run a 3000m race on 30 June in California which will be a diamond league event.

Although Semenya lost her appeal against the IAAF she is still eligible to run in any race because of her appeal to the Swiss Federal Supreme Court which temporarily suspended the IAAF rules until a further hearing can take place.
