[LISTEN] Discussing compassion fatigue in women
Exhaustion, sleep disturbance, changes in weight, poor concentration, difficulties in balancing work and life, a sense of hopelessness, an inability to empathise - these are only some of the signs of compassion fatigue.
Placing women at the centre of the discussion and considering their roles as caregivers, clinical psychologist Audrey Katsadzira joined Eusebius McKaiser in studio to unpack the problem and how to address it in some instances.
Our obligations to family members, loved ones are a bottomless pit so we are the ones who have to decide to what extent we want to be involved and that is part of setting healthy boundaries.
