Eusebius and caller go head-to-head over homosexuality comments
Deputy President David Mabuza said South Africa "should keep its mouth shut" when it comes to the business of other countries.
Mabuza was asked to condemn laws in other African countries which have made homosexuality a crime.
702 caller Khanya argues that the Mabuza was correct in saying South Africa should not get involved in other countries' affairs.
Eusebius McKaiser says if other countries were killing black people because of race, the country would be up in arms condemning those actions.
Just because South Africa tolerates and accepts homosexuality, it doesn't make other countries bad for rejecting and not tolerating homosexuality.Khanya, Caller
You are talking absolute rubbish. Homophobia is immoral, just like racism; there is no difference between the two.Eusebius McKaiser, Show host
There is a fundamental difference. You are born with your race but in terms of sexuality, you are born either as a man or a woman. It is your choice to change to being a woman while you were born a man.Khanya, Caller
I think your logic is piss-poor. Why does choice make a moral difference? You can't choose to be black, you are born into it. You are showing the stupidity of homophobia.Eusebius McKaiser, Show host
The argument about 'choice' must be slayed: EVEN IF homosexuality is a choice (which it isn't), so what? Why is it a choice that should be deemed immoral? Why should it not be available to us? A choice is only a bad choice if you can justify the alleged WRONG #702OpenLine— Eusebius McKaiser (@Eusebius) November 8, 2019
I think you were a bit harsh in your language there @Eusebius speaking to that lady Khanya I believe...I would have thought yours would be to try get her to see this from your point of view instead of the harsh words you used...But that's just me🤷🏽♀️— Enterprise TV Network - Siphokazi Sowazi (@enterprisetv_sa) November 8, 2019
The utter ignorance of that listener was bewildering this morning. Are these people walking amongst us?— Louis Scheepers (@LouisScheepers) November 8, 2019
@Eusebius I think we need a whole show to discuss what is means to be LGBTIQ. A lot of ignorance ouchea 🤔Some people think being gay is only about gender...we need proper education around this and its urgent‼️— PhD Student. Musician. Executive. Dad. (@RonnieLMulaudzi) November 8, 2019
