According to a statement released by his family a short while ago, Withers died of heart complications.

JOHANNESBURG – American soul singer Bill Withers has died, aged 81.

According to a statement released by his family on Friday, Withers died of heart complications.

He wrote and recorded dozens of major hits including Ain’t no Sunshine.

His other classics are _Just the Two of Us _and Lean on Me.

He won three Grammy awards and entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.
