For 19 years, 702 has brought the city of Johannesburg together for a shared vision – to walk the streets of Johannesburg as one community.
Since its inception, the 702 Walk The Talk has grown into one of the largest mass participation events in the Southern hemisphere. Yearly, it inspires a sense of community and camaraderie as people flock to walk together in solidarity. This iconic event has inspired the brand-new 702 positioning: #LetsWalkTheTalk.
This year, Covid-19 has put an end to all mass participation events. It’s been a hard and defining year for the world, for 702 and for the people who took to the streets with their family, friends and colleagues to walk for a cause. 702 invites its listeners to Walk The Talk with them and take a reflective walk around their homes, in their own communities - to walk for all the South Africans who are no longer with us or have been affected by Covid-19.
Date: Sunday 8 November 2020 Cost: R 60 entry fee Time: 6am to 6pm Location: Walk wherever you want to (home, office or your community)
The station’s aim is to break the stigma associated with this virus, to support those who lost loved ones; those who were unable to celebrate key milestones among family or friends; for those who lost their income and livelihoods. As summer returns to South Africa and the city of gold, 702 welcomes this season of renewal. The opportunity to reflect on a life-changing year and looking forward to a better tomorrow with hope in our hearts.
A new journey for Joburg, South Africa and 702 awaits - one of upliftment and hope. Come and walk with us and celebrate the resilience of our rainbow nation.
The 2020 virtual edition of 702 Walk The Talk offers 3 distances: 3 kilometres, 5 kilometres and 10 kilometres. All distances are completed at your own pace and in your own space.
