Edgars owner Edcon Holdings will soon radically transform Boardmans, La Senza lingerie and Red Square cosmetics as part of its latest recovery plan.

Edcon will try to boost profitability by focussing primarily on Edgars.

The company will keep its discount clothing store Jet and the CNA chain of stationary shops.

The Money Show’s Bruce Whitfield interviewed Edcon CEO Grant Pattison, the architect behind this latest turnaround plan.

Listen to the interview in the audio below (and/or scroll down for quotes from it).

We are rebranding Red Square as Edgars Beauty and we are rebranding Boardmans as Edgars Home…

Grant Pattison, Edcon

If there’s a La Senza in an Edgars store and in a mall, we’ll close the La Senza store in the mall…

Grant Pattison, Edcon

Edcon needs extraordinary support from a lot of people for it to survive…

Grant Pattison, Edcon

We have 45 000 staff… there will be some casualties… but this is not a people cutting exercise, it’s a space cutting exercise…

Grant Pattison, Edcon
