Supreme Court dismisses Hlaudi Motsoeneng's leave to appeal

Supreme Court of Appeal has dismissed SABC COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng's application for leave to appeal a ruling by the High Court in Cape Town, which effectively set aside his permanent appointment.

What the Appeal Court said is that this application is dismissed with costs on the ground, and that there is no reasonable prospect of success and therefore no compelling reason for them to hear this matter.

Based on the findings of the Public Protector in 2014, the High Court in Cape Town found it unlawful that Motsoeneng was promoted to COO.

The Public Protector had found that Motsoeneng misrepresented his qualifications and awarded staff and himself irregular salary increases.
